A Fun Day at the Science Museum

Guess what...A Star Wars exhibit is in town! The boys (big and little) went to see a movie at the Omnitheater and then went to the exhibit yesterday. I chose to go to a graduation party instead, but I heard about all of the fun. Here are some fun pictures that Grandpa took.Lance's favorite picture

School's out for Summer!!

Today was Lance and Liam's last day of school and they both passed and will be going to the next grade. I went to class with Liam because they had a red, white and blue party and the kindergarten classroom always needs extra help. Here are a few pictures from the last day.

Oliver and Company met their goal

The kids have been working hard raising money for their Stroll for Epilepsy team. Last Friday they did a fundraiser at their school and raised $112.45. Then on Saturday a bunch of them sold pop and water at a large neighborhood garage sale and they made around $200. I tallied up all of the donations the kids have gotten along with their fundraising and they are over $1000! This is the goal set by the Epilepsy foundation. The kids set a goal for their team of $2000, but we are glad they reached the first goal. They still have 2 more months until they walk, so they can still raise a few more dollars. The power of 9 fifth graders (and a few supportive parents) can go a long way.

Lance's Birthday

Today is Lance's birthday and we have had a full day of fun. It began at 5pm last night when 8 boys showed up to party and spend the night. We bought 4 pizzas (not enough), made 3 pitchers of kool aid, and had cake and ice cream. They played outside for a long while, did some Mad Libs, played some board games and watched a movie (and ate popcorn). This morning they continued to eat, they finished of 4 boxes of cereal. It was like having caterpillars in your house. They all had fun and Lance thought it was a great party.
A few boys couldn't spend the night and I forgot to take a group picture until the next morning.Then I took a few of the kids and we went to a BIG neighborhood garage sale across town. We set up a table to sell pop and water for the Epilepsy walk. The kids did it all day in shifts and made over $200 for their walk.We came home quick and got ready to go to Lance's recital. His private lesson teacher is moving to Boston, so she had a recital for all of her students. Lance got to play two songs. He did a great job.
Now it is 6pm and we are getting the house cleaned and the menu planned for another party tomorrow. We are have family and friends over for lunch and more birthday fun.

Lance is home!!

Lance had a field trip this week up north. He left on Monday morning, his entire class went, and they came home this afternoon. He was pretty nervous for a number of reasons: away from home so long, the outdoors, the challenges they were supposed to try, but he conquered it all.

He came home tired, but talking 90 words a minute about all the things they did. We got a recap of what he liked and didn't like. He tried to psych himself into doing a high rope challenge, but couldn't quite get up the nerve to go through with it. We will give him the excuse that his "partner" freaked him out a little because Oliver had a seizure while up on the course and had to be brought down, then Lance was supposed to go. He even hated one of the meals, but still ate it because he was so hungry. It was such a great learning experience for Lance even if he didn't conquer all of his fears. He is so much sure of himself already and he said he got to be better friends with some of his classmates.

I'm glad he is home, but he didn't have to bring me gifts... He came home and we found 2 ticks on him. Yuck, but hopefully that is the last of them. Now I have a ton of laundry to do also, but I'm still glad he is home. I don't know what kind of tick Lance even brought home with him, but YUCK!

Soccer

Liam had his first soccer game last week. It was pouring down rain, but he had a great time playing in the mud! Of course kindergarteners don't understand positions and they all just run like a mob after the ball. Very cute. Not only was it raining hard, it was cold out also. Oh I won't be allowed back in the house if I didn't put the score in the blog. Liam's team won 7-3, however I would like to put a disclaimer. The other team only had 6 kids show up due to the rain, so they played those same 6 kids the entire time. Liam's team had 7 on the field with two on the sides for subbing.
