As of today we have been waiting 10 months for a referral. It seems like such a long time especially when you add how long we have been planning. To think we visited our first adoption agency information session before Liam was even conceived. So, I guess that makes our wait more like 8 plus years since we started the research phase, so ten months to wait for them to find the right children for our family isn't so long.
We are trying to stay positive and busy during the wait. We are using the time to get ready financially. We have the next "payment" that we give our agency when we accept the referral in savings now. We are going to start saving for travel money next. We could use the time to get the house ready, but we still haven't painted or rearranged like we want to. I guess if we keep putting it off it makes the wait shorter in a way. We will get our referral and have to get into action right away.
We are just taking life one day at a time and enjoying them all. We are thankful for all that we have been given and enjoy our boys everyday. It is a little difficult to know that somewhere halfway around the world our children are waiting for us. I think the holidays make it harder also. We keep all our boys (the ones that live with us and the ones we are waiting to go get) in our prayers. Please keep them in your prayers also.

I had no idea you guys started your research so many years ago. Congrats on 10 months, and on saving so well!! I hope the wait moves along quickly.
I echo Rachel's comment on the research -- wow! Are you waiting for a sibling group? I guess I missed that in reading your posts.
I have always known that I wanted to adopt a child. We looked into it seriously before Liam was born and they recommended we have any biological we want to have before we do an adoption. From there time got away from us a bit. Last year we were finally at a place in our lives to go for it.
We asked for a sibling group of two boys with the age range of 0 -8 years old.
Julie & Ryan,
Congratulations on making it through ten more months. And having your next payment in savings. I am really proud of you. I bet it is hard to know that you have children out there that can't be with you for the holidays. We will keep them in our prayers and hope that they will be with you for Christmas next year. (and Thanksgiving, Halloween, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Easter ... ) lol!
Julie, 10 months down, hopefully not too many to go! I find that time has just been flying lately. We have six months down and I can't believe it. Good job on saving your money. That is very hard to do sometimes, but when it is for something so special, you don't mind!
