Adoption Update
So....we got news today, finally. When we called the Embassy last week they said that they were going to give ICAB the list of names at the end of the week. ICAB makes the medical/visa appointments for all of the children. We waited for a few days for our agency to call and ask when Shella May's appointment was and they finally emailed someone yesterday. Her medical appointment has been set tentatively for July 13th and her visa for July 17th. Not exactly the dates we were looking for (we wanted something sooner of course) but we are happy with just having dates now. Of course they can change, so we have to keep an open mind about it. After her visa is officially done we can travel to get her. So, now we have a new milestone to wait patiently until. Hopefully all will go well and she will have her appointment and pass it on the 13th.

That is great news! At least now, you have a concrete date you can look forward to. Hoping and praying all goes well with her appointment and you'll be making travel plans soon!
Hoping the visa appointments happen on the days they are supposed to, and that Shella Mae passes with flying colors!!! I'm curious about how quickly you'll travel after you have heard she passed. I'm hoping really fast!!
Finally you have a date! I hope that everything goes smoothly from here on in and that you'll be on your way to Shella Mae before you know it! Have you started packing yet?
You are so lucky. We now have to wait for our I-864 to get to ICAB before they will make appointments. So it could be quite a while for us. I'm glad you will get to be going this month though.
Thanks Tammy for your prayers and encouragement. We are almost there.
Rachel, I'm still asking about how soon we can travel after the appointment. We would like to travel the day of, but we'll see what our agency says.
Renee, I started packing two months ago, haha. I will start getting more serious about my lists now though making sure everything is packed or on the list.
Jennifer, sorry to hear about the extra paperwork. That happened to Regina also, but once they got the paper they were good to go. Hopefully all will go smoothly after this.
Pretty soon all of this waiting will be over! Hooray!!!
Julie,
That is fantastic news! Oh my gosh...I just got goosebumps just thinking about you guys leaving soon to pick up Shella Mae. I am sure the medical and visa appointments will go through smoothly and you will be on your way.
Two months of packing...I haven't even started thinking about it yet. I still have to pack this morning for the 4-day 4th of July trip we are leaving for today. I think I do my best work at the last minute. Ha!
Have a happy 4th of July weekend!
Yay! I'm really happy for you guys. Well, at least you finally have a tentative date set! I hope all goes well and that you travel very soon...
I can't imagine how frustrating and how long the wait must feel, now that you've seen pictures of your daughter, and you know that she's waiting for you at the orphanage in the Philippines. We haven't received our referral yet, so it doesn't feel as concrete, as real yet...I'm sure the wait gets much harder once you receive a referral!
Amber, you are so right about the wait being worse when you have that picture. We waited just over a year and all was fine, but give me that picture and I want to go tomorrow. I think the problems also made it worse because we kept saying "oh we could have been there already". We are trying to stay positive and look forward to leaving at the end of the month.
